CBaSE Funding for Collaborative Business Research Projects

The Centre for Business and Social Entrepreneurship (CBaSE) promotes collaboration between University of Guelph students and local businesses through a 4-month market research and/or business plan development project. The goal of the program is to create a transformational learning opportunities for students and provide valuable research and/or business plan construction for small business development.

Eligible Project Scope and Activities

CBaSE provides local businesses with the opportunity to receive extensive support and resources for a number business development and market research activities. All project activities must be completed within the 4-month time-frame and may include, but are not limited to:

  • Market Research
  • Market and Communications Planning
  • Social Media Strategy
  • Mobile App Development
  • Business Plans
  • Strategic Development
  • Human Resource Policy
  • Sustainability Research and Analysis

Each project is to be handled by 2-5 person team of senior Bachelor of Commerce students with an interdisciplinary skill set ranging from accounting and finance to marketing and human resource management. Teams selection can be based on the preferential skill set and requirements of the project to be undertaken.

Program Application Submission and Eligibility Requirements

The CBaSE Program is featured twice a year; once during the fall term (Sept-Dec), and again in the winter term (Jan-Apr). Applications for projects taking place in the winter term of 2013 must be submitted before December 1, 2012. The initial applications require companies to submit a one-page report outlining the project, it’s specific components, and the intended objectives. Projects do not require a financial commitment from the participating organization; however, companies will have to visit their university project teams at least 1-3 times during the term.
