creepy small business exportThe honorable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, marked Halloween with a visit to Winnipeg-based OMG’s Candy Inc. OMG’s Candy was launch last year by Chris Emery and Larry Finnson who operate a 12,000-square-foot plant in St. James run by 15 employees. OMG’s is well-known for its delicious chocolaty treats which are a mix of crunchy, fudge-covered graham clusters.

OMG Inks a Big Deal with US Retailer, Sam’s Club

OMG’s contract with the US retailer, Sam’s Club is going to see the small food processor make another sharp increase to their output, after a nationwide deal with Canadian retailer Loblaw’s helped the team expand last year. With OMG’s latest deal coming with a major retail chain south of the border OMG’s Candy received help from Export Development Canada’s (EDC’s) new Export Guarantee Program.

No one could be Happier about OMG’s Success than Dragon Den’s Arlene Dickinson

If you think the OMG Candy duo looks familiar, you may recognize them from an episode of Dragon’s Den they appeared on last year. Dickinson was so impressed with OMG that she shelled out a quarter of a million for a 50% stake in the company.

“I’m pleased so far, very pleased,” she said. “It’s one of the biggest investments I’ve made in terms of the (money) and where it’s gone.” –Arlene Dickinson told the Winnipeg Free Press last November.
