Canadian Schools Rank Well Amongst the Top Universities in the World

The Center for World Class Universities in Shanghai has released their 10th annual global university ranking.  Several Canadian universities have been ranked amongst the top 200 post secondary institutions over a range of disciplines and categories.

These rankings have shown significant improvement in the performance of Canadian Universities, more notably in the Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences field rankings. The Universities of Toronto and University of Waterloo have been ranked in the top 50 schools in the world for Engineering/Technology and Computer Sciences. Business Funding Grants for Recruiting Post Secondary Students

Canadian Universities are highly regarded for their ability to provide capable and educated individuals for research and business development activities. Companies are encouraged to tap into the top global talent by hiring a recent graduate from a Canadian university through one of several Canadian government grants for hiring. Listed below is a selection the Canadian Government funding opportunities for hiring science and tech graduates.

  • MITACS Enterprise: Participants can receive up to $30K in non-repayable business funding grants or 50% of the salaries for one or multiple post-secondary graduates. Interns can receive funding for a 6-month research project relating to one of the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
  • Graduate Enterprise Program (iSTEM): This program provides a wage subsidy of up to $15K for a 6 month internship involving a graduate trained in one of the disciplines of STEM. Individuals can be applied to a range of positions within the organization related to their field of study.
  • ICTC Career Focus: Businesses looking to hire graduates with IT experience may receive up to $10K or 50% of the salary and benefits for a 4-8 month internship.
