Research and Development is a costly process for any business, especially for those who are unable to leverage their expenses with Ontario business grants. The Centre for Research Innovation Commercialization (RIC) will be holding a business development workshop focused on finding finance and funding for small business research and development projects.
When: April 11, 2012 – 7:30am – 10:00am
Where: Rose Theatre Secondary Hall – 1 Theatre Lane – Brampton, ON
Businesses that are operating on a tight budget can leverage their project expenses by utilizing Ontario Government Funding for Research and Development. Funding is most often distributed to post-secondary institutions by the government for Research and Development Collaboration Projects. Some of the more popular Ontario Government grants for R&D include:
- NSERC Engage Grant for R&D: $25K grant to connect businesses to university researchers for new R&D partnerships that take place over 4-6 months.
- IRAP Accelerated Review Process: $50K grant for software implementation, productivity improvements, production design or marketing projects.
- Youth Employment Program : $30K for a 12-month full-time hire of a graduate. Can hire up to 2 employees. IRAP funding with no restrictions and graduate can be applied to most areas from R&D.
- MITACS Accelerate Ontario Program: $7,500 wage subsidy with company contributions of $7,500 towards the hiring of interns from Universities for innovative research, methods and development of tools over 4 months.
