Spring represents a time for new beginnings, isn’t it also a great time to finally get started on your new business?  This month the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre is offering 3 very beneficial workshops for those who are just getting their business idea off the ground.

Workshop for Entrepreneurs: “Startup Business Basics”

Date: Tuesday May 13, 2014

Time: 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Startup Business Basics Workshop Summary:

This workshop will answer the question: “What do I do first?”  Many entrepreneurs looking to start a business are surprised at all of the preparation it takes.  In this one-hour seminar you will learn about the different forms of ownership, selecting a business name, registering a business, licenses and regulations, HST, as well as a brief overview of getting started on your business plan.

 

Starting a Business Workshop: “How to Write a Business Plan”

How to Business Plan Workshop Summary:

It’s unfortunate that entrepreneurs often look at the creation of a business plan as a necessary evil. A business plan is meant to be decision-making tool, and is aimed at helping the entrepreneur set and reach goals. Learn more about how to write your business plan in this two-hour seminar which will take you through the ten major components of the formal business plan.

Mentor Works offers early-stage businesses a Startup Funding Checklist that helps to proactively prepare for government funding programs. Although startups are generally not eligible for grants and incentives, this free tool will help you grow and mature into a funding-eligible business.
