The Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) is a five-year, $3 billion investment contributed through the federal, provincial, and territorial governments across Canada. Providing a framework for agri-food industry funding, CAP is the primary mechanism used to disburse government grants and repayable funding contributions to SMEs, non-profits, and other key industry stakeholders. The program is administered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and provincial/territorial government departments.

CAP Federal Funding Program Variants

AgriInnovate

Provides repayable Canadian government funding supporting up to 50% of project expenses to a maximum $10M to commercialize and/or adopt innovative agri-based products, technologies, processes, or services that tackle top industry challenges.

AgriAssurance

Provides up to 50% of project expenses to a maximum $50k in government grants to help implement third-party assurance certification projects that address international market requirements and help expand export opportunities.

Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP)

Provides up to $1M in non-repayable government funding for projects that address national or sector-wide priorities that help the agricultural industry mitigate emerging issues and capitalize on opportunities.

AgriDiversity

Provides up to 50% of project costs to a maximum $200k/year (≤5 years) to a maximum $1M in government grants to build agricultural leadership and entrepreneurial capacity among under-represented groups, such as youth, women, persons with disabilities, and the Indigenous.

Provides up to 50% of eligible project expenses up to $1M funding per year (max $5M lifetime maximum) to coordinate and build on existing capacity, enhance safety, and adapt to changing commercial and regulatory environments.
