FedDev Ontario Community Economic Development & Diversification Program (CEDD)

Administered by FedDev Ontario, the FedDev Ontario Community Economic Development and Diversification Program (CEDD) program aims to create sustainable economic growth in small and rural communities in southern Ontario. Applicants can be businesses or not-for-profit organizations who are working to diversify and transform their local economies.

CEDD For-Profit Stream

  • Amount: Up to 50% repayable funding to maximum of $5M.
  • Timeline: Ongoing intake. Project must be completed by December 31, 2023.
  • Eligibility: Profitable legally incorporated businesses with operations in Ontario.
  • Projects: Projects that foster economic development and diversification through increase competitiveness and employment opportunities in small and rural communities in Southern Ontario.

CEDD Not-For-Profit Stream

  • Amount: Up to 50% non-repayable funding to a maximum of $5M.
  • Timeline: Ongoing intake. Project must be completed by December 31, 2023.
  • Eligibility: Not-for-Profit in Ontario including: Municipalities, Business Accelerators and Incubators, Industry Associations, Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs), and Indigenous Organizations.
  • Projects: Projects that address economic risks and needs of rural and small Southern Ontario communities and leads to economic development and diversification in the region. Collaborative projects are competitive.
