The B.C. Employer Training Grant (ETG) (formerly the Canada-British Columbia Job Grant) supports training for Canadian employees to improve their employability and in-demand skillsets. Training programs fall into three categories, including foundational training, technical training, and workforce training.

  • Amount: Non-repayable grant contributions of 60-100% of training costs (ie. course, exams, textbooks, software resources, etc.) to a maximum $5k-10k per trainee. Employers can access up to $300,000 per provincial fiscal year (April 1 – March 31).
  • Timeline: Current application intake opens October 1, 2018. Training projects must be completed within the year and cannot be over 12 months in length.
  • Eligibility: British Columbia-based SME with $2M liability insurance. Trainee must be a resident of British Columbia, permanent Canadian citizen, or granted refugee status.
