Alberta Innovates offers the Product Demonstration Program to businesses located in Alberta that have commercialization-ready, innovative technology in the industries of: energy, environment, nanotechnology, information and communication services, health, and life sciences such as forestry, agriculture and biotechnology.

Funding Amount

Receive up to 50% to max. of $150,000 in a matching contribution to total eligible costs.

Eligible Applicants

Alberta-based for-profit companies that have commercialization ready technology can apply.

Eligible Activities

Manufacturing of a prototype, and testing and optimizing the technology to gain market acceptance.

Eligible Applicants

Applicants may be eligible if they meet the following criteria:

Are a Small and medium sized enterprise (SME) that is for-profit (less than 500 employees and $50 million in annual revenues);
There is no conflict of interest between the applicant and their partner;
Is an Alberta-based organization;
Is financially capable of making the required applicant contribution; and
Is a legal entity in good financial standing with Alberta Innovates and their subsidiaries.

Eligible Projects

All projects must meet these requirements to be approved for funding by Alberta Innovates:

Can demonstrate a significant product pilot that has a simple acceptance criteria;
Has at least one product pilot strategic partner;
Will finish the product pilot within one year of project approval;
A project plan will be outlined upon approval with identifiable milestones;
Demonstrate that the product is highly likely to be purchased for or distributed by any strategic partners within 1.5 years of project acceptance; and
Product must be at a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7, 8, or 9.
