Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) WinterTech Development Program

The Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN)’s WinterTech Development Program is an Ontario government funding program designed to support projects related to the development, validation, testing, demonstration, and prototyping of mobility technologies and services designed to meet the unique demands of winter weather conditions.

  • Amount: Up to one-third of the eligible project costs up to a maximum of $500,000. Minimum 2:1 cash match by applicants and/or partners. The match must come from private sector contributions.
  • Timeline: Expression of interest submission deadline is September 5, 2019 and full application submission deadline is October 17, 2019.
  • Eligibility: Small-or Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) with operations in Ontario and fewer than 500 employees. Must have a minimum of two partners: SME and another non-academic partner.
  • Projects: Technology and services for severe winter conditions including, but not limited to snow, freezing rain, hail, extreme cold for the following priority areas: mass light vehicles, heavy duty vehicles, transportation infrastructure, intelligent transportation systems, and transit-supportive systems and vehicles.
