The Emerging Technology program, funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), provides financial support to private and public entities with innovative and viable projects in technology, that have the potential to contribute to the future economic prosperity of Northern Ontario.
Amount: Maximum funding of $1 million per project, provided as either: a conditional grant, repayable loan or forgivable performance loan of generally up to 50 per cent of eligible costs.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants may include partnerships and alliances comprising municipalities, private sector businesses and organizations, federal government and other government-related agencies. Projects must be in one of the following areas: Information and communications technology infrastructure, including high speed Internet expansion and cellular expansion projects, development of Centres of Excellence, Film development and production, Value-added products or Biotechnology and life sciences projects.
Amount: The maximum investment from the NOHFC will generally not exceed 50 per cent of eligible project costs. Funding for accepted proposals will be provided in one of the following ways:
