Skills Canada Grant Funding for Business Receives $8M

Skills Canada supported approximately 500 youth as they competed in over 40 different trade and technology competitions.  The Federal Government of Canada has recently announced that Skills Canada will be receiving over $8 million in Canadian government funding throughout 2012-2015 to promote careers in the skilled trades and technology and to provide hands-on experience to young Canadians. Through these small business funding grants, tax credits and support for training programs and skills competitions, they are encouraging apprenticeships and careers in the skilled trades. In addition, the Economic Action Plan 2012 will invest an additional $40 million over two years to enhance the Youth Employment Strategy to provide more opportunities to gain tangible skills and experience for young people.
