Climate Action Incentive Fund (CAIF)
Receive up to $20k to $250k in Government Funding.
The Climate Action Incentive Fund (CAIF) is a new Environment and Climate Change Canada program, distributing up to $218M in its first year (2019-2020), funded from the proceeds of the federal carbon pollution pricing system. Funding is available where provinces have not devoted to their own carbon pollution pricing systems and would benefit from funding for projects to decrease energy usage, reduce carbon pollution, and save money.
The SME Project Stream provides support to small and medium-sized businesses to undertake retrofit projects in sectors, such as building, transportation, industry, waste, agriculture, and more.
Up to 25% of total eligible project costs. Minimum funding contributions of $20,000 to a maximum of $250,000 per project and per applicant.
Incorporated enterprises with 1-499 employees operating in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and New Brunswick.
Retrofit projects that reduce energy usage, costs, and/or GHG emissions in sectors such as agriculture, building, electricity, energy, or fuel, industrial, transportation, and waste.
Deadline to Apply
The application period for the first intake closed on November 22, 2019. Applicants must complete their project by March 31, 2021. No further intakes have been announced.
