Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP)

The Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP) is an Ontario government funding program that helps automotive businesses improve operational efficiency and competitiveness through the adoption of lean manufacturing processes and Industry 4.0-related technologies, including hardware/software implementation and training.

Amount of Funding
Up to 50% funding to a maximum of $100,000 grant per project.

Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP)
Eligible Applicants
- Small- to medium-sized manufacturers within Ontario in the automotive supply chain to OEMs. Distributors are ineligible;
- Less than 500 full-time payroll employees;
- Less than $1 billion in annual revenue (Large companies are eligible but must partner with another SME automotive supplier);
- At least 50% of sales must be derived from the automotive sector; and
- A minimum of two years of financial statements.

Eligible Activities
Eligible project must focus on either technology adoption or lean manufacturing to improve the applicant’s productivity. Example of suitable projects include:
- Adoption of ERP software;
- Lean manufacturing training;
- Virtual machining software; and/or
- Metrology and design software.

Program Deadline
The last application intake of O-AMP ended on October 7, 2020. Funded project can last for up to two years. A future application intake period has yet to be formally announced.
