Food and Beverage Ontario (FBO) uses the term “the Local Food movement” to describe the opportunity for food and beverage processors looking to grow their businesses in Ontario. This food and beverage industry association is supporting the Local Food movement through successful outreach activities, including a recent workshop held at the enterprising ThinkFOOD! Centre of Maple Leaf Foods in Mississauga, ON on December 11, 2014.

FBO is Raising Awareness of Job Opportunities in the Food and Beverage Processing Sector
The food and beverage processing industry has proven valuable to the province of Ontario and across the nation, weighing in as the second largest manufacturing sector in Ontario. To help inform people of the many career opportunities available to Ontario residents, FBO supports Taste Your Future, a campaign started by industry and educational institutions to raise food and beverage sector job opportunity awareness.
FBO Supports Investment in Important Research and Development
Food is changing. People today want healthier, tasty food options and the food sector is investing in not only new state-of-the art processing technology, but also research and development into the development of new and improved products. Through a partnership with Conestoga College, FBO is committed to supporting the development of the institute of Food Processing Technology.
FBO is Creating Opportunities for F&B Professionals to Meet, Network, and Collaborate
Achieving successful development of the Ontario food and beverage processing sector takes cooperation. Through the FBO’s many events, like the New Market Opportunities for Ontario Food and Beverage Processors Workshop brings together a diverse group of food and beverage processing professionals, owners, and consultants to learn about the many opportunities to quench the demand of consumers as well as public institutions across the province, and beyond.
“Tapping into the knowledge and experience of these successful food processors provides vital insight into the details and challenges of preparing food for the BPS,” –FBO Executive Director, Steve Peters.
