Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) for Business Expansion

Developed to encourage businesses to invest in new facilities and equipment, the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) is a business expansion funding program that supports innovative businesses, economic development organizations, municipalities, and consortia on projects that invest in infrastructure and implement growth strategies that advance regional priorities.

Eligible business applicants can receive up to 15% of project expenses with total funding per project reaching $500,000 to $5 million, depending on whether they are applying for a non-repayable grant or a repayable loan. Alternatively, eligible community economic development applicants can receive up to 50% of eligible project costs for a maximum of up to $1.5 million in non-repayable grant funding.

Although currently closed for intake, when this program is open, eligible applicants can receive up to 50% funding to a maximum of $150,000 grant per eligible project.
