Amount of Funding

Successful applicants for the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund may receive:

  • Up to 50% of expenses to a maximum of $500k-$15M;
  • Funding depends on the project type; and
  • Applicants in rural and underserved communities may receive up to 75% coverage.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible Applicants will meet the following criteria:

  • Non-profit organizations;
  • Provincial territories & municipalities;
  • First Nations & other Indigenous communities/organizations; and
  • Broader public sector organizations.
  • Underserved communities may be identified as the following:
    • Official-language minority communities;
    • Indigenous communities; and
    • ethnocultural communities.

Eligible Projects

Eligible projects for the CCSF must meet the following requirements to be approved for funding:

  • Projects must be oriented towards one of three core intents:
    • Constructing or renovating arts and heritage facilities or creative hubs;
    • Acquiring specialized equipment; or
    • Conducting feasibility studies for constructing or renovating arts and heritage facilities or creative hubs.
  • Project related expenses may be cash and in-kind value may include:
    • Administrative costs if they are necessary for the project;
    • Salaries;
    • Carrying costs;
    • Calls for tender;
    • Services to be provided in both French and English; and
    • project audit costs.
