Thinking of Expanding to China? Join CTT Business Mission to Hong Kong

Companies interested in international partnerships to carry out research and development or advanced manufacturing are invited to join Canada’s Technology Triangle (CTT) in their business mission to China from April 12-21, 2012. The trip will incorporate several business meetings and networking seminars with China’s leading businesses in the science and tech sectors. The mission intends to advance relationships between Canadian SMEs and Chinese businesses in hopes of developing new investment, recruitment, and business partnership opportunities. Businesses are able to choose which meetings and events they would be interested in attending by selecting one following programs:

Module 1: International ICT Expo in Hong Kong – April 12-16, 2012

Participants will receive a spot in CTT’s showcase at the International ICT Expo 2012 in Hong Kong. The expo allows businesses to showcase their company’s products and services to some of the world’s largest international distributors and manufacturers of ICT technologies. Those who participate in this mission will be able to promote their company while representing the Region of Waterloo and what it has to offer in terms of business, education, and research.

Module 2: Visiting Chengdu & Shanghai – April 16-21, 2012

This module consists of a 5-day business mission to mainland China that will be focused on attracting foreign investment and distribution partnerships with some of the world’s leaders in science and tech-related research and development. Participants will take part in coordinated meetings and presentations with advanced manufacturers, ICT and other business sectors.

Module 1&2: The Complete Business Mission – April 12-21, 2012

The complete mission is the most cost effective measure for developing relationships and attracting foreign investment. Businesses will be able to attend an international trade and business expo in Hong Kong and visit China’s leading cities in scientific research and technological development.

Canadian Government Grants for International Expansion

Businesses would be able to fund and finance their international business expansion missions with the following business funding grants:

  • Export Market Access : $30K grant (50% of expenses) for international trade shows, travel costs, and related marketing expenses. Currently accepting projects that end before June 30, 2012.
  • CME SMART Prosperity Now : $75K grant (or 33.3% of expenses) for activities that support your global expansion efforts, including international marketing, environmental efficiencies, and foreign market orientation. Therefore, in order to receive the maximum $75K, a project size of $225K would need to be realized.
  • Going Global Innovation: $75K grant, covering 75% of costs related to developing an international partnership to bring a new product or technology to the Canadian market. Eligible expenses include meeting and travel costs, translation costs, meals and accommodations, trade shows, and legal fees.
