Canadian agricultural producers and processors can access a wide range of government funding to offset the cost of strategic growth and investment projects. With so many companies operating in this sector across the country, federal and provincial governments offer targeted funding to drive business development. As a result, forward-planning companies can access thousands or even millions of dollars to complete projects that unlock growth potential.
Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada will provide up to $1M in grant funding to support the Canadian agricultural sector’s participation in the Government of Canada’s growth and policy objectives.
These funds are part of the Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program (CASPP), which provides funding for projects that address national or sector-wide priorities that help the agricultural industry mitigate emerging issues and capitalize on opportunities.
Funding Snapshot: Canadian Government Funding Via CASPP
The Canadian Agricultural Strategic Priorities Program supports the Canadian agricultural sector by investing in the design, development, and implementation of tools and strategies to respond to and seize opportunities created by these objectives:
- Environmental Sustainability
- Adaptation to New Technology
- Emerging Issues
- Strategic Planning and Capacity Building
Awarded applicants may receive up to 50% of eligible expenses to a maximum $1,000,000 in non-repayable funding.
To be eligible for agriculture grants, applicants can include Canadian incorporated:
- Not-for-profit organizations including associations, cooperatives, and marketing boards; and
- Indigenous groups.
For-profits may be considered for funding in situations where the benefit will be accrued through the entire sector or significant benefits can be accrued for public safety and/or the public good.
Applicants must ensure the project involves or is supported by groups/individuals that signify the targeted agriculture and agri-food sector (national or sector-wide) and benefits the stakeholders of the targeted agriculture and agri-food sector, demonstrating the benefit to both public and private participants in the complete sector. The project duration can be up to five years.
