DESCH Canada Ltd. Expands with over $1M in Ontario Business Grants

SWODF Funding for Ontario Businesses

DESCH Canada Ltd. is a Cambridge, Ontario-based automotive manufacturing company that makes and distributes industrial machinery parts such as crankshafts, gearboxes and clutch and brake combinations. Recently, DESCH Canada was awarded Ontario government funding through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) for facility expansion and to purchase new automotive manufacturing equipment. This enables the company to have a more competitive stance in the market both locally and globally.

SWODF provides up to 10-15% of expenses to a maximum of $1.5M in Ontario government funding to support facility expansion and equipment purchasing projects.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) offsets a portion of a business’ capital investment costs when investing in southern Ontario facilities. Through these incentives, more businesses are able to expand operations and increase productivity.

DESCH Canada Ltd. is an automotive manufacturer located in Cambridge Ontario. The company designs, develops and distributes leading-edge technologies, including component production, marine applications, construction machinery, presses, energy, rubber and plastics, machine tools, and other engineering industries.

Through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the Government of Canada is investing over $1M in DESCH Canada Ltd’s expansion project.

With support from SWODF, DESCH Canada will purchase new equipment and expand its facility to manufacture a new industrial transmission system for large trucks. Funding will aid DESCH to achieve goals of expansion, global distribution and job creation. By 2021, DESCH Canada expects the completed project to create 30 new jobs and support the long-term retention of another 35 jobs.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF) was created for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) increasing productivity and developing innovative facilities. SWODF’s government funding for small businesses supports projects that:

  • Create and retain high-quality jobs;
  • Encourage private sector investments;
  • Enable the develop innovative processes and products; and
  • Help high-growth companies to diversify the economy.

The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund provides up to 10-15% of eligible project expenses to a maximum of $1.5M in Ontario government funding.
