Advancing Water Technologies (AWT) Program: Southern Ontario Water Consortium (SOWC)

This $12 million program is funded by FedDev Ontario and managed by the Southern Ontario Water Consortium (SOWC) to support collaborative industry & post-secondary R&D projects that advance clean and innovative water technologies. Projects supported through the Advancing Water Technologies (AWT) Program will be related to the commercialization of innovative water technologies, bringing the technologies to market, and tapping into the increasing global water demand.

  • Amount: Up to 50% of eligible expenses to a maximum $100,000 grant, though requests for more than $100,000 could be considered. Awarded funding distributed to academic research institution.
  • Timeline: Application period closed September 1, 2017.
  • Projects: Water R&D: prototyping, demonstration projects, product development, applied research, etc. Eligible costs: capital, non-capital, expertise, labour.
  • Eligibility: For-profit company located in Southern Ontario with: a minimum of 2 employees, in operation for a minimum 2 years, and in good financial standing.
